About The Renatural
The Renatural is a venture-backed beauty technology company reengineering how premium hair products are made. We combine patented robotics, advanced materials and expert craftsmanship to create a new generation of hyper-realistic wigs.
We are building a manufacturing system that has never existed before. Our work sits at the intersection of robotics, mechanical engineering, advanced materials and beauty—and we are looking for an capable early-career engineer to help turn our proven technology into a robust, repeatable production platform.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering role for a talented recent graduate or early-career engineer who wants direct ownership of real machinery and manufacturing problems. You will work closely with our Principal Engineer to set up and maintain our robotic hair-injection systems, execute defined technical projects, develop fixtures and molds, and keep the production floor technically ready for operation.
The core technology and engineering direction are already established.
We need someone who can learn the system quickly, translate technical direction into careful execution, and take ownership of the detailed work required to make machines reliable and production-ready.
That may mean preparing an injection run in the morning, changing and calibrating a needle, revising a CAD model, printing a fixture, installing a camera or helping reposition a machine later that day.
This is not a desk-only design role. You will spend significant time working directly with machines, tools, production operators and physical components.
What You’ll Do
- Set up machines for production runs, including machine checks, tooling, materials and run readiness
- Perform needle changes, positioning, calibration and functional verification
- Develop, revise and 3D-print molds, fixtures, adapters, guards and other production aids
- Maintain clean, structured CAD files and accurately document design revisions
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and routine repairs on production machinery
- Support clearly scoped technical projects such as installing cameras and sensors, improving machine ergonomics, relocating equipment and implementing safety upgrades
- Translate engineering direction into detailed bills of materials, component selections, drawings and assembly work
- Assist with electrical and mechanical documentation, including photographing, labeling and tracing machine components and wiring
- Help investigate machine failures, identify likely causes and document corrective actions
- Support production runs when needed, including operating the injection system and helping train production users on approved procedures
- Maintain tools, engineering workstations and machine areas in a clean, organized and safe condition
- Participate in the daily production-floor reset, including clearing workstations, returning tools and removing routine waste
- Follow documented procedures while surfacing practical ideas that improve reliability, safety, usability and repeatability
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Strong mechanical intuition and demonstrated ability to build, diagnose or improve physical systems
- Working proficiency in CAD and confidence producing fabrication-ready parts or assemblies
- Experience with prototyping, 3D printing, hand tools and mechanical assembly
- Comfort working directly with machinery rather than only designing behind a screen
- Ability to follow technical direction precisely, ask focused questions and incorporate feedback quickly
- High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation, organization and version control
- Resourcefulness: you can research components, break a defined project into its constituent parts and drive it to completion
- Clear communication when a machine, design or process deviates from expectations
- Strong ownership, reliability and willingness to help with the practical work required to keep a small production floor operating
- Low-ego collaboration and respect for established technical and production decision-making
Especially Helpful
- Academic, internship, project-team or professional experience in robotics, automation, manufacturing equipment or machine design
- Familiarity with electromechanical systems, sensors, cameras, motors, pneumatics, PLCs or control cabinets
- Experience designing jigs, fixtures, molds, machine guards or parts for additive manufacturing
- Basic electrical troubleshooting and an understanding of machine grounding, fusing and safe wiring practices
- Experience maintaining CAD assemblies that evolve rapidly through prototyping
- Exposure to preventive-maintenance systems, root-cause analysis or technical work instructions
- A portfolio, competition project, capstone or personal build that demonstrates exceptional practical engineering ability
We value demonstrated talent over years of experience.
Why Join Us
- Competitive salary of $80,000–$90,000
- 100% employer-covered medical, dental and vision insurance
- Direct mentorship from experienced engineering leadership
- Immediate ownership of real robotic manufacturing systems—not simulated or hypothetical projects
- Commuter benefits
- Complimentary snacks and lunches
- A clear path for career advancement
Physical and Workplace Requirements
This role is performed fully on-site in our Brooklyn production facility. It involves working around production machinery; using hand and power tools; moving between seated, standing and hands-on assembly work; and occasionally assisting with the careful positioning of equipment or components. Team members must follow all required machine-safety, ventilation, lockout and personal protective equipment procedures. Reasonable accommodations will be provided where required.
The Renatural is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants with unconventional backgrounds who can demonstrate exceptional practical ability, discipline and willingness to learn.
